We thought it might be hard to follow all the great things that happened in 2009 but, wow, were we blown away this year. Throughout the year so much content was being added and uploaded it made us dizzy just trying to keep up. In total, there were more than 42,000 photos, 16,000 videos, and 7,500 news articles added to the site this year. That's more than any other running website out there! We hope you all continue to share and upload your content and we look for bigger and better things in 2011!! 2009 Awards | 2008 Awards

Videos It's hard to believe that there are now over 33,000 videos on RunnerSpace. It was almost a full-time job to keep up with them so we could pick out the best ones of the year. We look forward to seeing more and more of your videos!
Here are the top videos from 2010:
Video of the Year: Girl Crawls Across Finish
Never has a video on RunnerSpace received such attention. Holland Reynolds crawled across the finish line after collapsing just shy of the line. Her coach is battling Lou Gehrig's disease and is using Holland's effort as a source of inspiration. We saw the video on ABC, CBS, and even on a local news station in Spain! With the world-wide mainstream media taking notice of it, it shouldn't be surprising that it is our video of the year.

Photos It's mind boggling to think that in just 3 years there are over 115,000 photos on RunnerSpace! 42,000 of those were uploaded in 2010, which again made it difficult to spot the best ones. We would also like to thank all the professional and hobbyist photographers out there that share their work on the site.
Here are the top photos from 2010:
Photo of the Year: Rain at NCAA's in Oregon
This may come to a surprise to most of you but it rains in Oregon. Yep, you heard it here and we have the photo to prove it. But to be fair, it almost never rains like THIS in Eugene, especially in June when the weather is almost perfect. It looks more like a severe thunderstorm of Texas than Oregon. This photo by TrackTownPhoto shows just how hard it was pouring during a heat of the women's 800 at the NCAA Championships this year.

Events More and more meet directors are starting to use the RunnerSpace event management platform to host their official meet websites. We now host several of the best meets in the country at any level. Even for the fan sites, it makes for a one-stop-shop to find news, results, photos, and videos from any of the 3000+ events on the site. 6 of the 9 this year are official websites hosted on RunnerSpace.
Here are the top events from 2010:
Event of the Year: Prefontaine Classic
The Prefontaine Classic is one of the premier track meets in the United States. As part of the newly formed Diamond League, the meet was held later in the year than usual and that made for some incredible performances. Highlights included Kiprop and Wheating's mile times of 3:49.75 and 3:51.74 respectively, David Oliver's tying of the AR, and Kara Patterson winning the javelin. When the dust had settled, 12 of the 18 events contested had new meet records. If you missed any of it, check out the official site right here on RunnerSpace for athlete interviews, races, photos, results, and more!

Groups This year we expanded outside the United States and into the province of Ontario, Canada for high school cross country. But that didn't overshadow the continued efforts of many of our already stellar groups or the addition of a few great new ones! We also extend a special welcome to Nevada Track Stats which is the source for high school track and cross country in Nevada. There are now over 30,000 group and team pages on the site!
Here are the top events from 2010:

News This year we stuck more to what the headline of the story was instead of the quality of the article. So many of these news articles will sound familiar to you. They are the biggest headlines of the year. Although we could only choose a few, there were dozens more that we felt could just as easily have been included on this list. This year there were over 7,500 news articles added to the site.
Here are the top news articles from 2010:
News of the Year: Solinsky Goes Sub-27:00, Breaks AR
Chris Solinsky provided one of the biggest breakthroughs in USA distance running this year with he became the first American to break 27 minutes in the 10,000 meters. In what was supposed to be a featured race for Galen Rupp, Solinsky took the lead for good with 900 meters to go and pulled away to become the first non-African to break the 27 minute barrier. We look forward to seeing more great things from Chris in the upcoming years as well as the rest of the US elite distance runners.
